We met Lynne when she came to audition for Lost in Yonkers. Originally from NYC, she was living in Omaha with her husband Bernie who worked for FDR. They were here about seven years until he was transferred to Atlanta. Lynne had studied with Sandy Misner in NYC during the 60’s and 70’s, and also Stella Adler. Diane Keaton was also in her class with Sandy. She did some off-Broadway things but with raising a family her priorities were different. A consummate actress she worked with us in the 90’s, and then came back a few times from Atlanta to do the Great Plains Theatre Conference. – Bonnie
Dearest Bonnie and Mark,
Bernie and I watched again last night your wonderful webinars encouraging others to start a theater such as The Grand Old Players, and telling them it’s not hard to do.
I am overwhelmed with so much love and gratitude for the opportunity you gave me to be a part of the exciting community you created. What you gave to the other actors and dancers as well, the opportunity to create, to be heard at a time when most people have no time or patience for the older people in their lives, to be relevant again, the greatest gift of all, to feel alive.
It’s not hard to do? Someone might be able to create the physical theater, but what you guys brought to our theater, the love, insight, dedication, creativity and sheer joy is not easy to do. It takes some very special people to do that. I’m blessed you guys are in my life, then and now. Sending much love and gratitude, Lynne Rothman – April 2020
